    I worked as a Senior Research Fellow in Food and Nutrition at ICMR-NIN, Hyderabad, where I contributed to the "Diet and Biomarker Survey of India." This large-scale study aimed to assess dietary patterns, nutritional and health status, and anemia prevalence across urban and rural populations.My role involved collecting and recording dietary data, including the daily calorie intake of individuals from families selected for the study across six remote districts in Himachal Pradesh. I also collected samples of cooked food and drinking water from these households. These samples were then processed by us in ICMR laboratories and sent to ICMR-NIN, Hyderabad, for further analysis. The goal was to assess the nutritional composition of the local diet and identify deficiencies that could be contributing to widespread malnutrition and other nutrition-related health issues in the region. Notably, the study also aimed to generate nutrient composition data for both cooked and uncooked foods from diverse regions—findings that will be crucial for developing targeted strategies to address rising rates of obesity and overweight in India.

The samples I worked with included drinking water from various regions of the Solan district, as well as bakery items, spices, edible oils, beverages, milk and dairy products, cereal grains, and cooked food collected from local eateries. I conducted both proximal analysis and specific tests as instructed by our Head Food Analyst, ensuring strict adherence to FSSAI guidelines and standard operating procedures for each category of product. In cases where samples failed to meet the required standards, I documented the findings and reported them to the Head Food Analyst to facilitate appropriate corrective action.
