I am Sahil Desai, a food technologist who aspires to contribute to the food industry with my skillset and knowledge. I have completed my M.Sc. in Food Science and Technology from Lovely Professional University with a CGPA of 7.78/10. My academic background includes a B.Sc. in Botany from Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
During my academic journey, I have gained hands-on experience through various internships and projects. I have interned at Delightful Gourmet Pvt. Ltd- Licious, Bengaluru, where I was responsible for production management, online quality control, and packaging material analysis. I have also interned at the Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology, Thanjavur, where I gained advanced knowledge about food quality and safety systems, non-thermal processing, novel food packaging trends, storage and handling advances, and emerging trends in food technology. Additionally, I have interned at the Food Regulation and Compliance Centre, New Delhi, where I learned about GAP, GMP, GHP, HACCP internal auditing, and FSMS plan practical implementation for the food industry.
I have worked on various projects, including the development of candy by using kokum (Garcinia indica choisy) fruit rinds and Phytochemical Screening and Antibacterial Potential of Trigonella foenum graecum-L. seed extract. I have also published an article in the Journal of Food Biochemistry on Bioactive compounds, bio-functional properties, and food applications of Garcinia indica.
I have acquired various certifications, including Milk and Milk Products Food Safety Supervisor, Legal Aspects of Food Sampling, Quality Management System based on ISO 9001: 2015 for the Food Industry, Manufacturing (Level -2), Covid Food Safety Supervisor, and Internal Auditor to HACCP. I possess skills in MS- Office, HACCP plan preparation, Response surface methodology, scientific data analysis, and scientific writing.
My interests lie in Food Safety and Management Systems, new product development, quality management system, internal auditing skills, and sensory science. I am fluent in English, Hindi, and Marathi.
